Classroom-churches urged to ensure maintenance of school buildings

Nkoranza (B/A) Feb. 10 GNA – Mr. Jarvis R. Agyeman-Badu, Nkoranza District Director of Education has urged leaders of religious bodies that worship in classrooms to ensure the maintenance of the school buildings for their longer lifespan.

He was addressing the staff of Sarpomaa Local Primary School at Nkoranza during a visit to acquaint himself with problems in the school. The District Director expressed concern about the practice by some churches to attend service in school classrooms but refused to maintain facilities there.

In the course of their activities, school furniture get damaged while the floors of the classrooms develop cracks, making their maintenance a burden on parents of the schoolchildren, he noted. Mr. Agyeman-Badu advised all head teachers to list down the names of all religious bodies that worship in their schools to ensure that their leaders arranged for the necessary support in the development of the schools.

He presented toys to pupils of the kindergarten of the school. Madam Juliana Tutuwaa, District Pre-School Organizer, who received the items urged teachers of the kindergarten to use the toys to help the performance of the pupils. She advised the teachers to handle the items well to ensure their longer lifespan.

The head teacher of the school, Mr. Anthony Nana Boateng, thanked the director for the donation and commended him for his efforts towards the promotion of education in the district. Mr. Boateng gave the assurance that the staff of the school would also give of their best to improve the performance of the pupils to enhance the development of the school.
