Clash of egos killing NPP – Ben Ephson

Editor-In-Chief of the Daily Dispatch newspaper, Ben Ephson, is advising the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to strive hard to overcome its challenges which are gradually tearing the party apart.

Mistrust, pride and egos, he’s argued, are making it difficult for the NPP to unite with its faithful.

A messy show of power, which has led to its National Chairman and General Secretary being unpopular among other challenges, has led to a disjointed Danquah-Busia-Dombo unit.

Currently, the party’s 1st National Vice Chairman, Freddie Blay and the Treasurer, Kwabena Abankwa Yeboah, have been hauled before the Disciplinary Committee for allegedly operating a secret bank account at Ecobank, Ridge Towers Branch.

The Criminal Investigation Depart (CID) of the Ghana Police Service is also investigating the same case.

The General Secretary of the party and the National Chairman, Kwabena Agyepong and Paul Afoko, have also been sidelined in some of the activities being undertaking by the flagbearer, Nana Addo-Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

A clear case is the ongoing ‘Rise and Build Tour’, a curtain raiser of the 2016 electioneering campaign of the elephant family.

The two leaders have come under severe criticism from fellow party gurus for pursuing their selfish interests other than the collective interest of the party.

Some have suggested that the input of the duo may not be needed as far as the 2016 electioneering campaign is concerned.

A cross-section of the public who are troubled about the factions in the party has called for ceasefire.

Ben Ephson commenting further on the party’s internal wrangling in an interview with Fiifi Banson on Anopa Kasapa on Kasapa 102.3 FM Wednesday said it will serve the NPP good if they are able to come over their egos, pride and mistrust and come together as a force to reckon with.

“NPP want to eat their cake and have it. They have to be very careful,” he cautioned.
