CJA says it has referred writ to legal team

Accra, 11 April, GNA – The Committee for Joint Action (CJA) on Monday said it has referred a writ filed by Mr Kwame Baah Acheamfor of Iron City seeking a court order to restrain them from organizing further “Wahala” demonstrations against the 50 per cent fuel price hike and general cost of living to its legal team for the necessary action. A statement signed by Danny Ofori-Atta, a Member of CJA, said the Committee and its members who had been served were ever ready to defend their democratic and constitutional rights.

“We believe in the cause we have embarked upon and we are operating entirely within the law,” the statement said.

It said the CJA would continue to work to ensure that the Government responded to the just demands of Ghanaians for a better life. The members of CJA, who were served the writ are: Mrs Ama Benyiwa Doe, Dr David Pessey, Alhaji Ahmed Ramadan, Mr Ofosu Ampofo, Mr Kwesi Pratt and Mr Omane Boamah.

The rest are Mr Elvis Afriyie Ankrah, Prof. Nii Noi Dowuona and Mr Bede A. Ziedeng.
