CJA reschedules demonstration

Accra, May 4, GNA – The Committee for Joint Action (CJA) on Wednesday said it has rescheduled it demonstration in Kumasi for Thursday, May 12, instead of Thursday May 5.

A statement signed by Mr Bernard Mornah, Member of the Committee, said: “The CJA is committed to a peaceful demonstration. In the light of the refusal of the Police to provide security tomorrow, May 5, 05 and against the background of threats of disruption by some pro-NPP groups in Kumasi, we have decided to reschedule the demonstration to Thursday, May 12, 05.”

It said the postponement would allow the Ashanti Regional Police Command time to resolve its alleged administrative difficulties and make adequate arrangements to provide security protection as required by law.

“The postponement underscores the CJA’s commitment to a peaceful protest and hope the authorities will not come up with any more excuses,” the statement said.

The statements said members of the CJA would visit Kumasi on Thursday and urged all to take note of the new date.
