Civil servants urged to co-operate with DCEs

Mamponteng (Ash), June 6, GNA – Nana Michael Detoh, Chairman of the Kwabre District branch of the Civil Servants’ Association has called on members to co-operate with Municipal and District Chief Executives to ensure good governance.

He said they could do this by avoiding malingering, lateness and absenteeism and to work hard to enhance socio-economic development and good governance.

Nana Detoh, who is also the District Director of the Department of Town and Country Planning, said this at a Civil Servants Awards Day at Mamponteng he organised with the support of the District Assembly. The District Chairman stressed the need for civil servants to liase with other officers in the district to effectively implement government policies and programmes.

“We are expected as Civil Servants to demonstrate a high level of duty consciousness and other unique qualities that will promote proper working conditions for entrenchment of good governance,” he said. Mr John Gyanfosu, Secretary of the Association, commended Nana Detoh for his dynamic leadership and expressed the hope that it would go a long way to motivate civil servants to work harder. He called on the District Assembly to appreciate Nana Detoh’s efforts to motivate workers and to initiate programmes for workers to eschew negative work attitudes.

Mr Gabriel Kyei, a revenue officer, took the first award of a kente cloth, the second prize of a radio cassette player went to Mr Agyemang Boateng, a veterinary officer and the third prize of a piece of wax print was given to Mrs Rosemary Agyemang of the Births and Deaths Department. 06 June 05
