Civil Servants greet Government

Accra, Dec. 25, GNA – The Civil Servants’ Association (CSA) on Thursday extended its felicitations to the Government on whose shoulders it said rested the onerous task of consolidating and sustaining the contributions of the working people for achieving desired goals of national development.

In a Christmas and New Year Message, the Association said, the difficulties of the receding year brought out forcefully the importance of hard work to promote the Government’s vision of creating a Golden Age of Business.

The message signed by Mr A.M.K. Joris for the Executive Secretary, referred to the harsh economic realities facing workers and the recent impasse on the controversial deductions of two and a half per cent from workers Social Security contributions.

Despite these concerns, the Association expressed the hope that Government would heed the call of the Association to address issues of pressing importance to the lives of Civil Servants to set their minds at rest.

The statement mentioned the restoration of Pension’s Cap 30, support and sustained assistance to its Mutual Health Insurance Scheme and the general improvement in wages and salaries, housing and transportation as some of the interest of Civil Servants that deserved prompt attention. The Association said it would not relent in its efforts to redeem the image and pride of workers and called for redoubling of efforts to contribute towards the national development agenda of attaining 1,000 dollars per capita income.

The statement said in remembrance of the birth of Christ, conflicts everywhere and anywhere in the world should be eradicated to enable the people to go about their legitimate businesses.
