Citizens of Bonte constructing school building

Bonte (B/A), April 14, GNA – Citizens of Bonte in the Nkoranza district of Brong-Ahafo have started work on a 150 million-cedi block of six-classrooms with an office and a store project. The project is being funded through contributions of 20,000 cedis a man and 10,000 cedis a woman for resident citizens and a flat rate of 50,000 cedis for non-residents.

Mr Matthew Owusu-Mensah, Unit Committee chairman, announced these at a fund-raising rally on Sunday to generate more funds towards the completion of the project.

He expressed regret that children in Bonte had to travel about one-and-a-half kilometres to attend school at Bonte-Bomiri. Mr Kwame Ampofo-Twumasi, District Chief Executive (DCE), commended the people for their self-help spirit and pledged Government’s support for communities that would initiate projects.

He asked the project implementation committee of the town to contact the assembly for 100 bags of cement towards the work. Mr Ampofo-Twumasi called on the people to unite towards the development of the town and to assist in ensuring a peaceful elections. Mr Samuel Akuna, Assembly Member, commended the DCE contributing to the development of the area and advised the people to pay their levies promptly to ensure the early completion of the project.
