Citizens demand more from STMA

Communities which participated in the third town hall meeting of the Sekondi Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly (STMA) have demanded more social amenities.

The communities were also worried over the destruction of the road network due to the laying of cables, lack of a drainage system and street lights, as well as dumping sites.

Mr. Alfred Ekow Gyan, Deputy Western Regional Minister whilst assuring the people of government commitment to alleviate poverty, said the Assembly had introduced a citizen report card to ensure effective engagement with the citizenry.

He said investing in people, expanding infrastructure, restructuring the economy as well as promoting transparent and accountable governance remained government’s number one priority.

Mr. Isaac Aidoo, Assistant Planning Officer of the STMA mentioned various projects under construction within the metropolis to better the lives of the people.

He said the construction of the Whindo Abattoir, asphalting of about 70 kilometer roads, school projects and other such projects were ongoing.
