Citizen donated books worth 200 million cedis to school

Wamanafo (B/A) Dec. 19, GNA – Mr. Daniel Kofi Asante, a citizen of Wamanafo, based in the United States of America (USA), has donated more than 1,000 English Language text-books and novels worth 200 million cedis to the Wamanafo Secondary/Technical School in the Dormaa District.

Presenting the books, Mr. Asante said it was his objective to contribute meaningfully to the development of the town and since education was the bedrock of national development, greater efforts should be made to create the enabling environment to enhance teaching and learning in schools, he added.

Mr. Asante, an old student of the school, appealed to the students and teachers to make use of the books to help improve their academic performance and the standard of education in the district. He pledged to make more donations to the school in future.

Mr. James Odame Lartey, Headmaster of the school who received the gift, thanked the donor for the gesture.

He said the school had 150 students but lacked facilities like classrooms, assembly hall, hostel and bungalows for the tutors as well as a means of transport.

The Headmaster appealed to individuals and organizations to emulate Mr Asante and come to the aid of the school.

Justice George Emmanuel Twum, a retired supervising High Court judge and Chairman of the Board of Governors of the school said it was the desire of the board to ensure an improvement in standards at the school.

He advised the students to take advantage of the facilities by working harder to enable them to achieve higher academic laurels.
