Circuit Supervisors cry over delay in fuel allowances

Agona Swedru (C/R), Feb. 13, GNA – Circuit Supervisors of the Ghana Education Service (GES) in the Agona, Gomoa and the Awutu-Effutu-Senya Districts have expressed concern about the delay in the payment of their travelling, transport and fuel allowances.

Mr Robert Kingful-Yamoah, Zonal Chairman of the Circuit Supervisors Association, said this at the meeting of the Association at Agona Swedru.

He complained about inadequate maintenance allowance for their old motorbikes and appealed to the GES to improve the situation to enable them to work hard to ensure quality education. Mr Kingful-Yamoah also expressed concern about the inadequate and late supply of logistics and lack of office accommodation that were hampering their work.

He suggested to the District Directors of Education to grant accountable imprest to Circuit Supervisors to enable them to move from school to schools to check on head teachers and teachers. District Assemblies in collaboration with communities should provide offices to promote efficiency.

Mr Kinful-Yamoah appealed to District Directors to assist them to benefit from the car and housing scheme recently announced by the Government to motivate teachers.

He stated that five out of the 17 Circuit Supervisors met their untimely death through motorbike accidents, adding that this had created panic among the rest of them.

The Chairman stated that the capitation grant was introduced to improve access to education and pointed out that this should lead to improvement in mobilisation and efficient utilization of resources through effective management.
