Churches urged to pray for positive change in society

Winneba (C/R), Jan. 23, GNA – Ms Valerie Whyte Mensah, Director of Girl Child Programmes, Green Care and Girl Child Foundation (GCGCF), an NGO based in Winneba, on Friday urged churches to pray for God’s divine powers to reverse negative trends in the society.

She said the church had a major role to pray in the transformation of people and their protection and for peace in the country and the world at large.

Ms. Whyte Mensah was addressing a two-day youth fellowship conference of the Triumph Bible Church at Winneba.

Topics including youth advancement in Christ, the HIV/AIDS and how fastening and prayers were important for Christians were discussed. She said the divine powers bestowed on churches by God were enormous, unlimited and could be utilised to change all forms of social vices that militate against the progress of individual lives in society.

Recalling the major role churches had played and continued to play in the advancement of world civilization Ms Whyte Mensah said that right from social ethics down to science and technology development could be traced to the good works of the church in all aspects of reshaping human activities through the principles of the holy Bible.

Ms. Whyte Mensah charged Christian women to use their numerical strength to educate people in their communities on the dangers posed by social evils and HIV/AIDS.

She advised the youth fellowship to step up its evangelical and social contributions to advance the cause of the church and the nation. The director also urged the fellowship to try to reach out to many souls in the hinterland who had not yet heard the good massage of God.
