Churches told not to commercialise Christianity

Awutu-Ofaankor (C/R), Feb. 25, GNA – The Abakomahene of Awutu Traditional Area, Nai Kwao Otuo V, has advised spiritual churches not to hide behind the cloak of the Holy Bible to exploit sick and needy people who approach them for divine healing and protection.

He made it clear that such practices is against Biblical principles and must be condemned because they discurage millions of lost souls that want to accept Christ and follow his teachings.

Nai Otuo was addressing about 1,000 followers from the Greater Accra, Eastern, Central and the Western Regions to round-off a four-day convention organised by the founder and leader of Awutu-Ofaankor based Jordan Prayer Camp, Prophet Peter Donkor at Awutu-Ofaankor on Sunday. He expressed regret that inordinate quest for wealth has blindfolded many church leaders to turn their sects into money-making entities and were applying all kinds of ungodly methods to exploit the needy and the sick.

Mrs Hanna Tetteh-Kpodar, Member of Parliament for Awutu/Senya constituency and the former MP for the area, Alhaji Babalamin Abu-Sadat, spoke about the need for Christians, Muslims to live in peace and unity to enhance national cohesion and progress all the time. Mrs Tetteh-Kpodar also advised eligible voters in the area to ensure successful registration in March this year.
