Churches must sensitise members on NHIS

Kwamikrom (V/R), Aug. 2, GNA- The Jasikan District Chief Executive, Mr. Solomon Donkor has appealed to religious organisations to sensitise their members on the importance of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).

Addressing the final session of the six-day convention of the Church of Pentecost at Kwamikrom in the Volta Region on Saturday, Mr. Donkor advised Christians to understand the scheme well and disseminate the information to others. He explained that adults would pay 6,000 cedis monthly for one year to qualify for treatment at all hospitals.

Unit Committee members have already been selected, trained and equipped to start the scheme in the hinterland, he said. He explained that people above 70 years are exempted. Contributors would be issued with identity cards, which would entitle them to medical care in any hospital in the country, he said.
