Churches in Yaakrom organise fund-raising to build health centre

Yaakrom (B/A), Sept. 27, GNA – The Local Council of Churches at Yaakrom in the Dormaa Municipality has organised a non-denominational fund-raising service in support of a new health centre. The centre is being established for the people of Yaakrom and its environs by the Brong-Ahafo Presbyterian Health Service. The people will provide office and staff accommodation while the Presbyterian Health Service will shoulder the remaining requirements including the provision of personnel and drugs. Speaking at the ceremony, Mr Fred Effah-Yeboah, General Manager of the Presbyterian Health Service, called on the people to re-kindle their communal spirit towards the execution of development projects. He emphasized that it was time for communities to shift from placing all expectations on the central government and to work to complement government’s efforts. Mr. Effah-Yeboah noted that apart from the Catholic Church’s tremendous contribution in the provision of social services, the Presbyterian Church was also doing its best in the area. He said; “Even though the health facility belongs to the Presbyterian Church, it has been necessitated to take care of the health needs of people from all walks of life without recourse to religion or political affiliation.” Mr. Effah-Yeboah urged prospective staff of the hospital to live above reproach in the discharge of their duties as any dereliction in their work would not be countenanced. Nana Kwabena Asamoah Asare, Chairman of the interim board of the centre, asked the people to take keen interest in the facility as no development could happen in an environment of poor health and squalor. He gave assurance of the people’s readiness to support programmes designed to sustain the facility. Earlier in a sermon, the Reverend Joseph Bediako, Head Pastor of Assemblies of God at Yaakrom appealed to all stakeholders to place premium on the growth of the centre to promote the good health and productivity in the area.
