Churches asked to organise effective counselling for would-be couples

Kumasi, May 26, GNA – Dr Edward Baffoe-Bonney, Member of Parliament (MP) for Asokwa East, at the weekend called on Churches to organise effective counselling on marital issues for would-be married couples to reduce the rampant separation and divorce cases in the country.

The MP who gave the advise at the inaugurating of the Ayeduase branch of the Catholic Church men’s fellowship in Kumasi, also urged Churches to lead a crusade against drunkenness, bribery and corruption, defilement and prostitution and armed robbery and other vices which have become a canker in the society.

Mr Paul Osei-Wusu, the Archdiocesan President of the Catholic Men’s Fellowships, called on Christians to led lives worthy of praise. He also urged parents to ensure the proper upbringing of their children so that they could be morally inclined and also contribute effectively to national development in the future.

In a sermon, the Very Reverend Father Philip Opoku Nyame, Parish Priest of Amakom Saint Paul’s Parish in Kumasi, urged members of the fellowship to abide by the rules and regulations governing the body and to work hard towards the development of the church.

A 13-member executive of the fellowship with Mr John Ampofo as President, Mr Joseph Okyere, secretary, Mr Ernest Boamah, organiser and Mr Patrick Agyei, chaplain, were sworn into office. 26 May 04
