Church service to mark eighth anniversary of Limann’s death

Accra, Jan. 19, GNA – A church service would be held at the Ridge Church in Accra on Sunday to mark the eighth anniversary of the death of Former President Hilla Limann.

A statement signed in Accra on Thursday by Dr Limann’s widow, Dora Fulera said the eighth anniversary church service was a prelude to a series of events to mark the 10th anniversary of the passing of Dr Limann as well as the establishment of a Hilla Limann Foundation. Dr Limann, who was a career diplomat before he became President, passed away on January 23, 1998.

Dr Limann was elected President on the ticket of the People’s National Party (PNP) in 1979 and ruled until he was ousted in a military coup led by the then Flight Lieutenant Jerry John Rawlings on December 31, 1981.
