Church presents wheelchairs to physically challenged

Goaso (B/A), July 17, GNA- The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints has presented wheelchairs valued at 70 million cedis to 35 physically challenged persons in Asunafo District of Brong Ahafo. The Church’ s gesture was in response to an appeal Mr. George Yaw Boakye, District Chief Executive, made during a recent visit to the headquarters of the Church in the United States.

The items formed part of a consignment of 500 wheelchairs the Church brought into the country for distribution to the physically challenged.

Mr. Joshua Ewusi, a representative of the Church in Ghana who presented the items said the Church had established a special financial scheme to acquire materials and equipment to assist the physically handicapped.

He called on people to show compassion on the physically challenged “since their predicament is through no fault of theirs and must not be shunned or discriminated against”. Mr. Boakye, who received the items, appealed to families of the recipients to enrol those of school-going age in school to encourage them to develop their talents.
