Church presents books to UEW

Winneba (C/R), July 24, GNA – The Charities Section of the Agona Swedru branch of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, on Friday presented a variety of art books to the Department of Art Education of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW). Mr Isaac Kofi Oten, President of the branch made the presentation to the Department upon a request.

Mr Oten said the Church would continue to support organisations and institutions whose aims and objective were to offer quality education. He expressed the hope that the students would make good use of the books to enhance education.

Madam Hannah Bonsu, immediate-past president of Art Society of the Department of Art Education, who received the books, thanked the donors for responding to their call and promised that the books would be put to good use.

She said the Art Department had established a secretariat and would soon offer training to street children in batik tie and dye, soap making and sign writing.

Madam Bonsu called for support from government to enable the Department to render free training to the disadvantage youth.
