Church pays NHIS premiums for 100 needy members

Kumasi, June 16, GNA- The Saint Paul’s Catholic Church at Amakom in Kumasi has paid the National Health Insurance premiums totalling 20 million cedis for 100 of its needy members including widows and orphans. The Very Reverend Father Philip Opoku Nyame, Parish Priest of the church, who announced this, said the church paid 200,000 cedis for each beneficiary.

He announced this when he presented the NHIS identity cards to them at the church premises in Kumasi at the weekend.

He indicated that the church in addition to the gesture had given scholarships to 65 brilliant but needy members to pursue their education from primary to tertiary levels to enable them become useful and responsible citizens in future.

Very Rev Nyame admonished Christians to stand bravely and confront challenges and not to see difficult situations as misfortunes.
