Church pays health insurance premium for 50 members

Kumasi, Sept. 27, GNA 96 The Saint Paul’s Catholic Church at Amakom in Kumasi paid health insurance premiums for 50 members of the Church who could not afford the scheme due to financial constraints. The beneficiaries comprised of the aged, widows and widowers and the needy.

Presenting their registration cards to them at a church service, the Very Reverend Father Philip Opoku Nyame, the Parish Priest, assured the beneficiaries that the church was behind them at all times. He appealed to the privileged in society, especially Christians, to assist the needy in all their endeavours.

Mr Felix Baidoo, Public Relations Officer of the Church, said the package was part of the church’s social responsibilities to its members to improve their living standards.

He said some 67 brilliant but needy members of the church in tertiary, secondary and basic schools had been given scholarships ranging from 200,000 cedis to two million cedis each annually. In a related development, the church feted more than 50 widows and widowers in the church as part of an annual package to them.
