Church launches development fund

Winneba (C/R), May 13, GNA-Leaders of the Winneba Diocese of the Methodist Church, Ghana, have launched a special Development Fund, also dubbed: ‘Ebusua Tow’, to which members of the Church would make monthly contribution of at least 2,000 cedis each.

Launching it, the Right Reverend Dr. Joseph Kow Ghunney, Bishop of the Diocese urged members of the Church not to forget that all of them belong to one strong and formidable family.

They must learn to make meaningful financial and material contributions towards the successful socio- economic development of the Church at both Diocesan and District levels. He stated that as a Church, members have a collective responsibility of exploring new avenues to create wealth for the effective and sustainable development of the Church, hence the decision to establish large scale plantations of “Moringa Wonder Plant,” a herbal medicine, to generate income for the Church and at the same time safeguard the health needs of members.

The measures would supplement the internally generated income which the Church derived from traditional ways of silver collection, offertory and tithes.

Rt. Rev. Dr. Ghunney announced that the Winneba Diocese of the Methodist Church will host next year’s national delegates conference of the Church at Winneba, adding that preparations were underway towards the programme. He expressed the optimism that branch leaders, Reverend Ministers and other members of the diocese would offer the diocesan executives all the necessary support and co-operation and intensive prayers to ensure that the programme comes off successfully next year.
