Church launches appeal to establish destitute centre

An appeal for funds has been launched by a charismatic church in Amanfrom to establish a centre to help cater for the destitute.

Prophetess Aileen Augustine, Head of the Wipe-Away-Tears Prophetic Ministry, said there was the need for such an institution to cater for the needy, especially during the current world economic dispensation with its attendant hardship.

Prophetess Augustine said every individual must be an asset to the nation and called on Ghanaians to support the needy and not leave that responsibility on the shoulders of government alone.

She said social challenges facing the country such as armed robbery, prostitution and indiscipline mostly arose from the inability to encourage and support the youth to aspire to greater heights.

She said lack of parental care, broken homes and child neglect among other things most often resulted in victims not growing to become responsible adults.

Prophetess Augustine called on philanthropists, corporate bodies and individuals to support the church to establish the centre to help train such victims for the good of society.
