Church Elder remanded on fraud

Akim Swedru, Oct 24, GNA – An executive member of the Akyem Oda branch of the Evangel Baptist Church, Mr Kwadwo Ntiamoah, was on Friday remanded by the Akyem Swedru Circuit Court for alleged defrauding three women in the sum of 40 million cedis.

The accused, whose plea was not taken, will re-appear at the court on October 31.

The prosecution told the court that Ntiamoah allegedly collected the monies from the women in February to prepare travelling documents for them to travel to the UK to attend a conference the church was organising.

After collecting the money, he went into hiding until he was arrested last week.
