Church donates to Manhyia Prisons

Kumasi, June 7, GNA- The Grace Baptist Church, in Amakom Kumasi, as part of its 40th anniversary celebration, on Saturday donated items worth GH¢900 to the Manhyia Prisons for the upkeep of inmates there. Reverend Dr. Kojo Osei-Wusu, senior pastor of the Church presented the items including drugs, toiletries, stationery, clothing, foot wears, and dustbins among others. He said the gesture was to make the inmates part of the event since the Church had for some time built a relationship with them. Rev. Osei-Wusu interacted with the inmates and urged them to obey the prison authorities and change their attitude towards life before they the end of their jail terms. He said the Church would continue to support the prison and called on other Christian groups to do same in fulfilment of the gospel. Receiving the items, Superintendent John Kwaku Mensah, Second-In-Command of the Prisons, thanked the Church for the donation. He said that the visit of the Church to the prison would go a long way to boost the morale of the inmates most of whom have not been visited since they the time they started their jail sentence. Supt. Mensah appealed to individuals and organizations to contribute to the welfare of prison inmates. The Church also undertook four-hour clean up exercise at the Manhyia Hospital and Amakom township.
