Church donates drugs to hospital

Akim Oda, Mar. 20, GNA – As its contributions towards promoting quality health care of the people, the Parables World Ministries on Friday, donated six boxes of assorted drugs valued at 10,000 US dollars (about 91 million cedis) to the Akim Oda government hospital. The Church also presented a cheque of two million cedis towards the medical expenses of two paupers, Kwasi Avedzi, 13, and Yaw Asante, 8, at the hospital.

Making the presentation, the Executive Pastor in-charge of Ghana branch of the church, Pastor Frank Essah, disclosed that for sometime now the church had been helping displaced people in some war-torn African countries.

He said the church was now focusing attention on assisting to equip hospitals in the country with more drugs to enable them to provide quality health care for the poor who may not be in a position to purchase drugs.

Pastor Essah further announced that the church, at the moment, was assisting about 1,500 orphans at Kade, in the Kwaebibirim District, to attend school, adding that plans were underway to extend such facilities to Akim Oda.

He, however, expressed great concern over frustrations one encountered in clearing charity goods from the ports and appealed to the government to put in the necessary mechanism to make it possible for such items to be cleared on time.

Receiving the items on behalf of the hospital, the Principal Medical Officer, Dr. Emmanuel Ashong, thanked the Ministries for the gesture, saying the drugs had come at a good time when the hospital was seriously pursuing exemption policy for children aged five years and below.
