Church Choirs’ Union assist two instructions in Bechem

Bechem, (B/A), June 30, GNA – The Brong Ahafo Presbyterian Church Choirs’ Union has presented food items worth more than four million cedis to the Bechem School for the Deaf and the Bechem Government Hospital at separate functions at Bechem.

The food items, which included bread, milk, sugar, milo, pineapples were donated as part of the Union’s 39th Presbytery Conference held at Bechem, under the theme “Behold I Am Making All Thing New.”

Mr. Joseph Mensah-Mensah, President of the Union, who made the presentation, noted that the government alone could not manage health institutions in the country and appealed to religious bodies to contribute their “widow’s mite” towards the upkeep of patients.

He called on the authorities to expedite action on the implementation of the Mutual Health Insurance Scheme so that the people could contribute funds towards their health needs.

Miss Divine Adams, the Hospital Administrator, who received the items thanked the Union for responding to the call on Christians to help needy and sick people and appealed to other church organisations to emulate the gesture. She called on the Union to sing songs that could give psychological anchorage to worried and sick people.

Members of the Union donated 230,000 cedis to the school after interacting with the inmates there.

Mr. Thompson Asare, headmaster of the school, who received the items thanked the Union for the donation and asked individuals and organisations not to assist inmates of the school, who would solicit funds in the name of the institution since that would be for their personal gains. He said through the assistance of the government and philanthropists, the school received enough grants to cater for the inmates.
