Church calls for dialogue on ROPAB

Accra, Feb. 24, GNA – The Overcomers Prayer Ministries International with its affiliate in the United Kingdom on Friday called on government to dialogue with the opposition to solve the misunderstandings surrounding the passage of the Representation of the People (Amendment) Bill (ROPAB).

Bishop Benjamin Arko Harrison, Founder and President of the Church in Ghana, said the country was divided on political lines due to the passage of the law and there was the need to streamline issues to prevent any mishap that might occur.

At a press conference to launch an outreach programme for underprivileged people in the Upper East Region, he called on his colleagues from the Marvellous Light Ministries, UK, to support the country with prayers to bring peace and harmony. Touching on the outreach programme which is earmarked for districts like Navrongo and Sandema, Bishop Harrison said with support from the Marvellous Light Ministries, the church would build satellite schools, construct boreholes and provide shelter, among other things, to make life comfortable.

He said about three million dollars would be needed for the programme which would also assist the homeless and orphans especially in Navrongo.

Bishop Harrison said the Church through the Overcomers Relief Foundation had been involved in such projects and would discuss the kind of income generating activity it could offer to benefit the people.

Pastor Malcolm Wilson, Founder of Marvellous Light Ministries, UK, said they were arranging to meet the Vice-President to discuss pertinent issues with him and called on the political parties to be tolerant with one other to let peace prevail.
