Church awards scholarship to student to attend university

Asueyi (B/A), Sept. 7, GNA – The Asueyi branch of Wesley Society of the Methodist Church in the Techiman municipality has awarded a scholarship to Joshua Dambole to study at the University of Education. Mr. Joshua Wesley Takyi, secretary of the lay movement of the church in Techiman, told the GNA that the student would pursue a three-year degree course in education.

He said the church had also employed five teachers for a kindergarten at Asueyi established by the church in 2004. Mr. Takyi appealed to philanthropists and well-to-do citizens, both resident and non-residents, to assist the church to give the school a face-lift.

Rev Kofi Annan-Bennett, Minister in-charge of the church at Asueyi, said five citizens of the area had provided items towards the development of the church. He appealed to the Techiman Municipal Assembly to assist in the provision of teachers for the kindergarten.
