Koforidua, Feb 27, GNA – The Eastern Regional Superintendent of the Assemblies of God Church, Rev Alex Ofori-Amankwah, has appealed to ordained ministers to be bold and speak out against bad political issues and vices in the society.
This, he said, would prompt the society to discern between what was good and bad because “you as ministers of the gospel have been chosen to lead the people on the good path to righteousness.”
Rev Ofori-Amankwah was speaking at the ordination of eight Senior ministers and 14 Exhorter ministers and the regional launch of the 75th anniversary of the church at Koforidua on Sunday.
He said their call as ministers of the gospel required them to be patriotic and should desist from love for money.
Rev Ofori-Amankwah said the church had over 250 branches in the Eastern Region and had embarked on some development projects to raise the standard of the living of the people.
These include building of schools, seri-culture and citrus farms, a scholarship scheme for the needy and a fruit-processing factory. In a sermon the General Treasurer of the Assemblies of God, Rev. Paul Dapaah, called on Christians to work diligently at every place they found themselves.
He condemned the preaching of only prosperity and success and urged pastors to speak the truth about the word of God rather than portraying Christianity as a rosy religion.
