Gomoa-Fetteh (C/R), April 12, GNA – The Very Reverend Samuel Kwaku Opoku of the Senya circuit of the Methodist Church on Sunday called on Christians and Philanthropists to try as much as possible to contribute towards the up-keeping of the poor and the disadvantaged persons. Rev. Opoku noted that Christians who are well to do should consider as part of their divine obligation to periodically offer material and cash support to the needy and deprived citizens to inspire them as Jesus did.
He made the call when he presented quantities of items costing 6.5 million cedis to the Village of Hope Orphanage at Gomoa-Fetteh in the Central Region as part of activities initiated by the Senya circuit of the Methodist Church to round-off the Easter festivities.
Rev. Opoku said the church would continue to preach against sin and other evil things which threaten current peace and undermine the development of the nation.
He praised the management of the Orphanage for their deep humanitarian spirit and commitment to the services of the deprived and distressed children and prayed that the Lord increase their sense of humour and fellow-feeling to enable them to offer more sacrificial service to the needy at all times.
Mr Fredrick Asare, Director of the Village of Hope who received the gifts expressed his gratitude to the church for its kind gesture and called on others to emulate the shinning example of the church. He assured the donors that the items which include bags of rice, maize, sugar, soap, used sandals and clothes would be put to good use.
