Christians urged to eschew sin and lead righteous lives

Accra, Dec. 25, GNA – The Reverend Antwi Boasiko, Resident Pastor of Pentecost International Worship Centre (PIWC), Atomic Hills, Christmas Day called on Christians to live in righteousness in order to merit the favour of God.

“It is unfortunate that in the end times the church had been associated with numerous unchristian activities thereby dragging the name of Jesus Christ in the mud.

“I pray that the church in the coming years will live in righteousness so that its youth would experience the love of God and crave to always stay under Gods presence,” Rev Boasiko stated.

Rev. Boasiko explained: “we are looking forward to a church, a country and a continent where majority of its people could be referred to by others as being righteous, Holy Ghost filled and blameless before God”.

He indicated that the unmerited favour of God could bring great prosperity and blessings to people and the entire nation.

Preaching on the topic “Emmanuel and the Favour of God,” Rev Boasiko said the favour God is routed in His sovereignty and thus “God favour’s those He chooses and not according to man’s understanding and standards”.

He cited Noah in the Bible and Mary the mother of Jesus Christ, who both found favour in the sight of God and were tasked by God to execute important assignments at various times to prove the supremacy of God.

He explained that God’s favour does not depend on ones strength or credentials, but in the continuous trust of the person in God, stressing “no matter ones background God will find you when the time is ripe and bless you accordingly”.

Rev Boasiko urged Christians to unit under the season of Christmas to demonstrate the love of God who gave his only begotten son Jesus Christ to come into the world to redeem mankind from their sinful nature.

He also said it was through Christmas that hope was restored back to humanity; therefore that hope must be sustained.

He declared the year 2012 as “a year of excellence in our work places”, adding, nothing is impossible for God and this would total bring national development.

He said the Lord has taken the lead as an advanced party to ensure the safety of Ghanaians in the year 2012.

The church as part of the Christmas festivities organised a four-day convention dubbed: “Emmanuel God with Us,” as well as series of teachings on the benefit of Christ’s birth and the need for Christians to keep faith in Him for their blessings.
