Christians told to embrace the NHIS

Kumasi, March 17, GNA- The Reverend Dora Ofori Owusu of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, has called on Christians to support the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) to help enhance access to quality health care in the country.

She said, “it is important we all accept that the scheme is in our own interest and must ensure its successful implementation”. The Rev Owusu was speaking at the fifth anniversary celebration of the Kwadaso District Presbyterian Women’s Fellowship at Nzema in Kumasi. It had the theme: “Behold, I Make All Things New”.

The Rev Minister noted that the cash and carry system had proven to be not in the best interest of the poor.

She told the women that as mothers it was important that they set good examples in the home for their children to follow. Mrs Hannah Brenyah, the President of the fellowship, advised members to learn to do away with gossiping and rumour mongering and concentrate on helping to promote the development of the church and the society.
