Accra, March 16, GNA- The Reverend Canon Major Emmanuel Addy Laryea, Chaplain of the St George’s Anglican Church, Burma Camp has called on the electorate to reject any politician who mounted the platform with air inflammatory words and insults. He said the situation where some politicians mounted platforms to rain insults on others would not augur well for the country’s young democracy.
Delivering the Palm Sunday Sermon in Accra on Sunday, Rev. Addy Laryea attributed the country’s socio-economic woes to some politicians’ mad rush for their selfish gains instead of having the welfare of the people who voted them into power at heart. He charged the government to adequately resource the Electoral Commission to enable it to play their expected role in this year’s General Elections.
Rev. Addy Laryea also called on the electorate, especially Christians to exercise their franchise on December 7 which would be Sunday before or after church service. The Chaplain praised the Black Stars for their performance in the just-ended Ghana 2008, saying that even though they failed to win the ultimate, they displayed a gallant performance which needed commendation.
He asked Christians to open a new chapter by refraining from acts, which hinder national development.
