Christians in Ghana mark Easter

Accra, April 4, GNA – Christians in Ghana and their counterparts throughout the World are today marking Easter, the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, about 2,000 years ago, with church services and conventions.

Church halls and parks would be filled with regular and occasional worshippers who will be singing praises to glorify God and the power of His resurrection.

Easter, the most important event on the Christians calendar, is the solid rock on which Christianity is founded, for without the resurrection, there would have been no Christianity.

Christians asked to ensure peace and love

Kumasi, April 4, GNA – Christians have been asked to consider the suffering, crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ some 2000 years ago, as a sacrifice for humankind, and ensure peace, love an unity in society. They should also emulate Christ who demonstrated care, love, peace and compassion for sinners, the afflicted, poor and underprivileged. The General-Secretary of the Pentecostal Believers Church, Reverend Alex Akwasi Afrane, made the call, in sermon at a three-day annual national Easter Convention of the Church, attended by more than 500 members of its branches from Accra, Kumasi, Obuasi, Sefwi and Bogoso, in Kumasi. He asked Christians to have hope in Christ and work hard towards the growth and development of the Church.

Rev. David Amadie Agyapong, General Overseer of the Church, asked Christians to desist from immorality and false doctrines and rely on God for the needs.

The Church baptised new converts, engaged in evangelism in neighbouring communities, prayed for the nation and discussed the message of Easter.
