Christians asked to encourage youth

Christians have been asked to encourage the youth to channel their ideas, energies and exuberance towards the development of the Church.

Mr Dziedzorm Bright Kpedekpo, a youth leader of the Ho-Bankoe Elorm Parish of the E.P. Church, made the call in a sermon to mark the end of the youth week celebration of the Parish, in Ho.

It was on the theme: “the Parable of the sower, where do you belong?”

Highlights of the celebration were fasting and prayer, debate, gospel rock show, games and talks, and fund-raising towards refitting the chapel.

Mr Kpedekpo said it was natural for the youth and the elders of the Church to differ on how to proceed on developmental issues, “but the Church becomes stronger when dialogue takes centre stage.”

He said the church would be affected if each of its constituents and individuals consider themselves as more important than others.

Mr Kpedekpo said the common denominator should be faith in God in all engagements rather than individuals and groups, so that the church as a body and its members will find happiness and fulfillment.

Motivated by the banner of its motto: “Elorm Youth Arise and Shine,” the youth of the parish refitted the chapel’s upper wooden windows with sliding glass ones.

They have also provided hanging lights and metal railings on the upper terraces of the chapel.

Funds to be raised as part of the celebration would be used in replacing the wooden doors of the chapel with sliding glass ones.
