Christian missionaries launch book fair on board a ship in Takoradi

Takoradi Feb.25, GNA- Mr Joseph Boahen Aidoo, Western Regional Minister, on Friday assured local and foreign entrepreneurs about the stable political situation needed to protect their investments. He said one of the government’s economic goals is to turn the country into a favourite investment destination in Africa, adding: “Ghana is a peaceful and a democratic country and welcomes both local and foreign direct investments”.

Mr Aidoo gave the assurance when he opened a two-week book fair on board M.V. Logos II, a Christian charity ship, at the Takoradi Harbour. He expressed the hope that the missionary work of the crew would facilitate the growth of Christianity in Ghana.

Mr Kevin Boyce, Acting Director of the Ship said the crew had been carrying out evangelism and charity work for the past 17 years in over 76 countries.

He said the core objective is to spread knowledge through books, training and motivational conferences.

Mr Boyce said the organisation also works in orphanages, hospitals and old people’s homes and spread the Gospel to instil hope in people. Mr Graham Willburn, Captain of the Ship, said Ghana is widely regarded as a trust worthy country to do business with and this would attract more investment and reduce poverty in the country. Mr Franz Pieter Vaveen, Project Coordinator of the Ship told the press that 40,000 books on various subjects were being exhibited at the bookfair.
