The Christian Council of Ghana (CCG) has dedicated the next three years to fight bribery and corruption in the society, The Rev. Robert K. Aboagye-Mensah, the newly-elected General-Secretary said in Accra today. He told a press conference that “this year’s Christian Home Week celebration will be geared towards fighting bribery and corruption in society.” Rev. Aboagye-Mensah said the council is doing this in collaboration with the Catholic Secretariat which initiated the fight against the two social vices late last year. Rev. Aboagye-Mensah took over from Rev David Asante Dartey who completed his five-year term last year. Rev. Aboagye-Mensah noted with concern the recent spate of ritual murders, rape and abductions saying such sinful acts weaken the social fabric of the nation and urged Ghanaians to seek righteousness. Rev. Aboagye-Mensah said the CCG would celebrate its 70th anniversary in October this year with seminars, workshops and debates on issues relating to the church and society. Other programmes outlined for the celebration are quiz competitions and a nationwide ecumenical worship service by the 14-member churches of the council.
