Ghana’s Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) has been expunged from a list of African Human Rights Commissions for an international study, Starr News has gathered.
It comes on the heels of the recent corruption exposè involving the CHRAJ Boss Lauretta Lamptey.
Starr News has learnt that Ghana has now lost its position on the list of African Human Rights Commissions being surveyed by the UNDP.
Former CHRAJ boss Emile Short who dropped the hint said the development is damning.
He said the recent corruption exposè involving the CHRAJ boss is largely to blame for the development.
“Obviously it dented the image of CHRAJ both here and internationally. Calls that I have had from individuals and some institutions indicate that it has dented the image of CHRAJ”
He added :“ CHRAJ was one of the institutions to be visited as part of a study on African national human rights institutions but recently, I hear that CHRAJ’s name has been removed because of what is happening there”.
