Choose a right winner-da Rocha

Accra, Dec 21, GNA – Mr B. J. da Rocha, Former National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) on Friday asked delegates to the December 22 Congress to choose a winner for the party.

He said since the delegates represented the whole party, they were expected to exhibit honesty and good faith, as the fate of the NPP would be determined by the choice they made.

A statement signed by Mr da Rocha in Accra also urged party faithful, who would flock the Congress grounds at Legon to behave in a way that would make the Party proud of them.

He said, “each of you no doubt has an aspirant he or she favours, but remember that the aspirants are not enemy combatants, they are all members of the NPP family seeking the Party’s nomination. Your behaviour will determine the nature of the atmosphere at Legon. Let it be friendly and joyful.”

He further cautioned the faithful not to disturb or disrupt the proceedings either before or during the voting and particularly after the winner had been declared.

“The Unity and stability of the Party and your loyalty and commitment will be on test. I am confident that all of you will ensure that Congress becomes a successful pacesetter”, Mr da Rocha indicated. Mr da Rocha asked the presidential aspirants not to let the pursuit of their ambition become a mania, as their behaviours during and at the final result would have a serious impact on the cohesiveness and stability of the Party and its future prospects.

“Only one of you will ultimately be selected. If you are not a winner, please do not be a bad loser. To the person who is selected, I say, please do not see yourself and behave as one who has won a great victory over many opponents.
