Cholera Outbreak Kills 10 Persons in Brong Ahafo Region

An outbreak of cholera at Yeji, in Ghana’s Brong Ahafo region has killed 10 persons, while 242 cases have already been reported, a health ministry release said Saturday.

It, however, said health authorities in Yeji district have received enough logistics including infusion, antibiotics and oral re-hydration salts from the health ministry to deal with the situation, said to be under control at the moment.

At the outbreak of the epidemic, district health workers moved swiftly to alert and educate the public on the need for strict compliance with sound personal hygiene, and to keep the environment clean, the release said.
