Cholera outbreak in two districts

Eight people are reported to have died as a result of an outbreak of cholera in Aowin-Suaman District in the Western Region and Abura-Asebu-Kwamankese District in the Central Region

Speaking to the Parliamentary Press Corp, during a visit to the House, Mr Kingsley Ofori-Asante, District Chief Executive of Aowin-Suaman, said three people have died at Aowin, while his counterpart, Mr Andrew K. Mensah said the disease has claimed three lives at Moree and two at Abura-Dunkwa.

They said the disease was assuming alarming proportions and if immediate steps were not taken it could spread to other areas.

The two District Chief Executives have, therefore, appealed to the Ministry of Health and non-governmental organisations to go to their aid.
