Koforidua, March 23, GNA – The daily cases reported at the Koforidua Regional Hospital has decreased from an average of over 20 cases per day about a week ago to five cases currently. As at Tuesday, March 22, the hospital had recorded a total of 145 cases with one death.
The rest had been treated and discharged and at the time the Ghana News Agency (GNA) visited the hospital with 16 people on admission at the special ward established to handle the cholera cases. Speaking to the GNA, Dr Asare, Medical Director of the Hospital, advised the public to be careful about their sources of food and water.
He said even the drinking of sachet water was no longer advisable since the hospital had a case where a driver who drank a sachet water had an infection within 30 minutes and was rushed to the hospital. Dr Asare advised people to observe personal hygiene, keep their surrounding clean and wash their hands with soap under running water before eating.
