Chinese Premier departs Accra

Accra, June 19, GNA — Mr. Wen Jiabao, the Chinese Premier, departed Accra on Monday morning for Congo Brazzaville after his two-day official visit to the country.

President John Agyekum Kufuor saw him off at the airport. Mr. Wen was in Ghana as part of a seven-nation African tour to boost China’s trade and bilateral relations with countries on the continent.

His first stop was in Egypt and he would be visiting South Africa, Uganda, Tanzania and Angola.

Whilst in Ghana, Mr Wen held bilateral talks with President Kufuor at the Castle, Osu, leading to the signing of a number of bilateral agreements on technical and economic co-operation between China and Ghana.

He also joined President Kufuor to inaugurate the Ofankor-Nsawam two-lane dual carriageway executed with a 28 million-dollar interest-free loan from China.
