Chinese Ambassador to Ghana tours Bui dam site

Sunyani(BAR), Sept. 11, GNA – Mr Yu Wenzhe, Chinese Ambassador to Ghana on Thursday paid a familiarisation tour of Bui Hydro Electric Project, a joint venture between Governments of Ghana and China at Bui. A statement issued in Sunyani and signed by Mr Francis Boateng, Brong Ahafo Regional Coordinating Director, said Mr Yu commended Ghana Government for the seriousness it had attached to the project.

It said Mr Yu on a working visit to the Region, also paid a courtesy call on Mr Ignatius Baffour-Awuah, Brong-Ahafo Regional Minister in Sunyani.

The statement said Mr Baffour-Awuah lauded the cordial relationship between the two countries, noting that Ghana needed to learn a lot from China in efforts to reduce poverty. He expressed the Region’s readiness to tap from the rich experiences of China and would soon send a team of businessmen to visit China to explore avenues of co-operation with their Chinese counterparts.

Mr Baffour-Awuah commended Chinese Government for its support for the project, which after completion would enhance electricity supply to the northern sector of the country. He noted that discussions were underway to find a lasting solution to a misunderstanding between management and the workers at the dam site.
