China Wants To Improve Trade Imbalance With Ghana – Minister

Accra,(Greater Accra Region) 14 Oct. China attaches great importance to improving the imbalance in trade relations between her and Ghana, Mr. Gao Hucheng, Assistant Chinese Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Co- operation said in Accra today. Mr. Gao noted that with the well-developed diplomatic relations between the two countries, it is the intention of his government to help correct the imbalance since trade ”binds our peoples”. He is leading a trade delegation, which includes chief executives of some state-owned enterprises to Ghana and some African countries. The Chinese enterprises deal in agricultural products and by- products, as well as light industry, textiles and electronics. Speaking to the Ghana News Agency, Mr. Gao said the delegation’s mission is principally to find out which Ghanaian products are suitable for promotion on the Chinese market. China had over the years imported Ghanaian traditional products like cocoa and timber but now ”China is seeking to establish a mutual trade co-operation with Ghana on competitive basis in other products”.
