China Suspends Visa Agreement Between Ghana And Hong Kong

THE GOVERNMENT of the People’s Republic of China has suspended the agreement of mutual exemption of visa requirements between Ghana and Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of China.

To this end, Ghanaians who are intending to visit Hong Kong are therefore advised to acquire the appropriate visas.

A statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Regional Cooperation and NEPAD and signed by Mr. Sayuti Yahaya-Iddi, Acting Director of Information and Linguistics Bureau of the Ministry, notes that under the previous agreement, “Ghanaians visiting or transiting Hong Kong and holders of valid Hong Kong Special Administrative Region passports visiting Ghana or transiting its territory were not required to acquire visas”.

The temporary suspension of the agreement therefore requires any Ghanaian intending to visit the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People’s Republic of China, to acquire the appropriate visa, the statement added.
