China donates $20,000 to flood victims

Accra, Oct. 12, GNA – China Jiangxi Corporation for International Economic and Technical Co-operation on Friday donated a cheque for 20,000 dollars towards the upkeep of flood victims in the Northern, Upper East and Upper West Regions.

Mr Qin Qiufeng, Manager of Jiangxi Corporation, a subsidiary of the Co-operation, who handed over the cheque to Vice President Alhaji Aliu Mahama at the Osu Castle expressed the hope that it would bring some hope to the victims.

Vice President Mahama, who handed over the cheque to Nana Obiri Boahene, Minister of State at the Ministry of The Interior, described the gesture as wonderful and handsome.

He said Ghana had always cherished relations with China, which was soaring to greater heights.

“The flood victims would continue to be grateful for the donation,” he said.

Mr Yu Zheyuan, Chinese Ambassador, said the donation was intended to mitigate the suffering of the flood victims and also to show the solidarity of the Government, people and enterprises of China.
