Children’s Ministry Assists Women’s Groups In Ekumfi

The Ministry of Women and Children’s Affairs has given financial assistance totalling 400 million cedis to more than 700 women in the Nfantseman District to promote petty trading, agriculture and other businesses under the Women in Development Programme.

It was channelled through the Ekumfiman Rural Bank that has its headquarters at Ekumfi-Essueshyia.

Mr Michael Kumi Frimpong, Manager of the bank, said these at a meeting with group leaders of the various women associations operating under the bank’s micro-credit scheme at the Ekumfi-Essueshyia last Tuesday. He appealed to members of the groups to work harder to enable them repay their loans in good time to qualify them for further assistance.

Mr Kenneth Kerlley Essumang, the Principal Project Co-ordinator of the bank, reiterated management’s call on co-operate bodies, industrials and shareholders of the bank to buy more shares to help raise the bank’s capital from 250 million cedis to 500 million cedis as required by the Bank of Ghana. He appealed to the Ministry of Women and Children’s Affairs to channel more funds through the bank for disbursement.
