Ejura (Ash), April 27, GNA- The Ejura-Sekyedumase district Assembly would arrest children of school going age found trading at the Ejura market on market days.
Madam Elizabeth Owusu, the District Chief Executive, who announced this, said a 50,000 cedis fine would be imposed on parents whose children would be arrested.
Addressing the Ashanti region Association of Assemblywomen and other women’s groups at Ejura at the weekend, she said the situation was not only affecting the rights of the children but should not be allowed to continue.
The meeting, which preceded a three-hour clean-up exercise at the Ejura market, aimed at sensitising the women’s groups on the need to take active part at all levels of political activities and to resolve to vote for women candidates.
Madam Owusu said there was the need to have more women in Parliament so that they would take up matters concerning women and children since nobody could do that better.
She therefore advised women to support their colleagues who Seek for political office.
The DCE said women should move away from being at the lower rungs of the ladder and bid for higher positions, particularly parliamentary seats.
Miss Akua Afriyie, regional organiser of the association, asked women not to indulge in vices that would tarnish their image.
