Children benefit from ‘Kalyppo Kares’ health screening

Aquafresh Limited, producers of Kalyppo, one of Ghana’s natural juice brands for children, has commenced a free community health screening exercise for children in four communities in the Greater Accra Region.

Dubbed, “Kalyppo Kares” the Community health screening, which is on a pilot basis would be conducted on four consecutive Saturdays.

Mr Chris Ampadu, Kalyppo Kares Project Manager, told the Ghana News Agency in Accra that the exercise was part of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility initiative to support communities with free health screening.

He said communities to benefit from the project include Madina, Kwabenya, Jamestown and Tema Community One.

Mr Ampadu said it was estimated that about 200 children would be screened in each community.

He said general health check-ups were not often adhered to by most Ghanaians, especially in communities that were poor and underserved.

The Project Manager said if the pilot phase of the exercise was successful, management planned to expand the activities to other regions.

He said children’s healthcare was vital to their growth and education and urged parents to pay attention to the health needs of their wards.

Mrs. Sarah Nana Yeboah, the Chief Executive Officer, Sangy Nursing Services, said people tended to seek medical attention only when they felt sick, a practice which was not the best.

She said as part of the exercise they were conducting, preventive health for the children, including personal hygiene, to identify basic problems affecting them.

She said as a Nursing Services provider, her outfit was carrying preventive health to the doorsteps of the ordinary Ghanaian to help improve people’s overall health.

Children who visited the screening grounds were also treated to free fun and games set up on location for their amusement.
